Making a Splash with Watercolor
All Skill Levels - but there should be some prior familiarity with the medium
Participants will discover a whole series of subjects in this exciting two-day watercolor workshop! You may find yourself painting a diverse series of subjects ranging from landscapes to urban settings, water reflections, florals, or taking a fun whimsical approach to painting wonky critters! The objective behind each subject YOU paint will be to loosen up, have fun, but also embrace three crucial concepts:
- mastering brushwork that includes “lost and found” edge treatments.
- understanding how “light and shadow” create the perceptions of 3-dimensional depth and dimension.
- the importance of value contrasts in creating paintings that “pop!”
Randy will do a demo each morning & afternoon, and bring color copy handouts with notes and photo references - participants will have these handouts to take home with them to refer to over and over later.
At the end of the first day, participants paintings will be lined up for sharing (with commentary by Randy) and at the conclusion of the second day, Randy will do a critique of each painter’s best piece.
This workshop is designed to help participants pick up important watercolor techniques and set a course to launch them toward becoming more confident painters.
