  Begin and complete a torn paper landscape collage, using materials provided by the instructor. You will receive a foamcore support board,  handcolored watercolor papers, glues, and tools to use.  Bring nothing but your brown bag lunch (plus your palette and brushes IF you desire to add some detail).  Iced tea and brownies will be provided. 

  *Cancellations: Workshop is limited to 12 students, first come, first serve. If you need to cancel, you will receive a full refund only if your space is filled from the waitlist.

  Location: This workshop will be at the Mesilla Park Heritage Condominiums (MPHA) Clubhouse, 905 Conway Ave., Las Cruces.  Look for the clubhouse sign and balloons.  

  In town: Take Main Street south to Conway, turn right on Conway, turn left into Mesilla Park Heritage Condominiums, turn right on the first street. The Clubhouse is on the left. Parking spaces are in front of the Clubhouse or in front of the park at the clubhouse.

  From El Paso: Take Hwy. 10 to Las Cruces, exit at #142/University Exit. Turn left on University. Go under the overpass, turn left on Main St. Turn right on Conway. Take Conway to the Mesilla Park Heritage Condominiums.

  Drawing Workshop 3: "Animals and More"

  A four session SC Mini Series with Sue Davis
  Tuesday mornings in January 2027

  

  This workshop will explore various ways to approach drawing animals. Experimentation with different mediums to create both realistic and loose renderings will be emphasised.

  Drawing cats, dogs, birds and other animals will be highlighted.

  Action, construction, and structure as part of the drawing process will be presented.

  A detailed pdf explaining the concepts and activities to be presented that week will be emailed to each participant. There will be demonstrations and exercises which focus on the weekly topic.

  A soft pastel kit is included as instruction will be provided on how to use this medium to create loose, expressionistic drawings.

  Fee including all supplies: Members $165 Non-Members $180

  When: Tuesday January 5, 12, 19, 26 from 9:30-12:30

  Very Short Instructor Bio:  Sue is a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago and has been teaching at the college level for over 14 years. She draws every single day and enjoys helping others discover the simple joy of sketching. Sue believes that knowing how to see and draw well is the foundation for creating believable paintings

  "Luminous Landscapes"

  Jane Fritz Watercolor Workshop Description   https://www.janefritz.com/

  This 3-day workshop focuses on painting landscapes of water, rocks and meadows that glow with light and atmosphere. You will learn to simplify complex scenes into strong compositions using design concepts and value patterns with a preliminary drawing. Each day will start with a demonstration followed by painting and individual guidance. Techniques, color choices, edge variety and design decisions will be woven throughout to support the creation of successful paintings.

  NMWS Members are invited to attend this Workshop as a part of MasterWorks of NM, in Albuquerque, NM on March 30, 31 & April 1 at the Hispanic Arts Bldg at EXPO-NM. Registration is limited to 14 students. Tuition is $300.

  Jane Fritz Artist Biohttps://www.janefritz.com/

  The watercolors of Jane Fritz focus on landscapes, wildlife, and wildflowers to share her sense of peace and awe when in the wilderness.  Jane’s larger goal for her art is to foster an appreciation for wilderness that encourages people to work toward preservation of the ecosystems that sustain biodiversity.

  Jane’s art has been featured in Watercolor Artist magazine, Art of Watercolour Magazine, The Artist’s Magazine and Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine. She has won almost 60 awards in various juried national and international exhibits in the US and abroad, and is a Signature Member of Alabama Watercolor Society (Silver), Montana Watercolor Society, New Mexico Watercolor Society, Watercolor USA Honor Society, Western Colorado Watercolor Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, and Women in Watercolor.

  Jane became hooked on watercolors as the medium of choice for journals to document her broad international travels. She further developed her watercolor skills through university courses and workshops with master painters, but she is largely self-taught through hours of dedication and devotion to her art. Her extensive national and world travels have inspired her and provided subject matter for much of her artwork. She now resides with her husband near Las Vegas, New Mexico, USA.
