Taming the Beast, Effective Use
of Aquabord TM
"Many artists have been stymied in their attempts to use Aquabord panels for their watercolors, though it can be a wonderful and durable support. Over the years, Barbara McGuire, longtime member, webmaster and current Chair of NMWS, has also had her struggles making this material work for her watercolors. After advice from local and national artists on "taming" what some feel is a "beast", she has learned about the materials and techniques to employ to effectively use it. She has produced a number of successful paintings, most of which have sold.
Barbara will share what she has learned about this very useful support, including how to prepare a panel properly for optimal use, appropriate brushes and pigments, and painting techniques. In addition, she will discuss protection of the surface, framing and varnishing. Barbara will also share artist resources for those interested in further study, using this very versatile support."
