Nancy Frost Begin
"Do Something To It!"
October 6-7, 2022
Thursday and Friday,
Good Samaritan Society's Creative Arts Room
3011 Buena Vida Circle Las Cruces, NM 88011
The goal of this workshop is to teach you a proven process for recomposing existing paintings to create a new standalone or a series painting. Nancy will be demonstrating on her own paintings the approaches and techniques she uses to explore new directions in her own art. Each artist will bring several of their paintings to the workshop to make shifts in key design elements and principles which will begin the creative development of a new painting. The journey is easy and full of surprises. The pathway is endless with rich discoveries from your creativity. “Do something to it!” The workshop will allow you the freedom to be passionate about painting and the results.
Each day begins with a demonstration of various techniques Nancy uses to explore a new expression of her art. She will be working directly on one of her original art pieces. You may choose to “do something to it” on separate sheets of paper. She will have samples of using separate paper instead of working on top of the original painting. You will have the remainder of the day to apply these techniques to your own work. Nancy will circulate throughout the day to provide support and problem solving to everyone individually. At the end of day, there will be a group critique session to see the development of ideas. During each lunch hour, Nancy has a presentation on the creative process and one on the use of color. She will be sharing these presentations followed by an open group discussion on the creative process.
