The purpose of the New Mexico Watercolor Society is the elevation of the stature of watercolor as an art medium and the education of the public about the significance of watercolor as an important creative permanent painting medium. The ultimate goal is to make New Mexico known nationally for its watercolorists.
All individuals interested in watercolor media are invited to join the NM Watercolor Society and participate in our regularly scheduled educational and social events.
Albuquerque Meetings are held monthly (except July) and include interesting and stimulating painting-related speakers. There is a social time preceding the meeting where artists can chat and become acquainted with other members. Las Cruces Meetings are held monthly (other than June, July & August) with presentations by artists and art-related educators. There is a social time prior to each meeting.
NMWS members have the opportunity to participate in tri-annual juried exhibitions sponsored by the society, educational workshops conducted by nationally known artists, and enjoy the fellowship of other artists during the monthly meetings and Paint-Outs. NMWS members are also eligible to enter the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies’ annual show (juried exhibition drawn from 12 western states/regions), as well as Masterworks of New Mexico.
