Don't forget about our DVD Lending Library! For only $3 a disc, you can borrow it for a month of education in the comfort of your own home. Our goal is to continue to weed out old/unused DVDs and purchase new ones for all to use. So look for that, and possible mini fundraisers to be able to purchase more DVDs. Download the list: 2018_05_NMWS-SC DVDs.pdf
The new DVD Librarians are Paul Vakselis and Joy Calvert. They will have videos at each month's meeting for you to use and return the next month. Contact Paul at vakselis[at]gmail.com to suggest titles to purchase for our library.

The art of simplification means to “eliminate the unnecessary to let the necessary to its job”. Hans Hoffmann . The process begins by finding and grouping together shapes to make a more simple “compound “ shape. A tracing of your image or reference material will help you see the compound shapes, related through value. If you remove the unnecessary you will have space to work with the elements/principles of design. Then to make your work stronger, powerful and personal, ask yourself “what is it you are willing to change”? Color, shape, scale , space or form? I will have examples of one image, changed five times. Each change was a thoughtful challenge with surprising results. I look forward to sharing some new ideas and to create some excitement dialogues with other artists in the area.
