Notice of Vote Counting
Thank you for voting on the definition of acceptable work for juried exhibitions - we have a decision:

The Bylaws Committee received 74.9% ballots returned and Marcela Wagner, in a capacity of Judge, affirmed that the membership selected Option #4, which reads:

"AQUEOUS MEDIA INCLUDING: TRANSPARENT AND OPAQUE WATERCOLOR, ACRYLICS, EGG TEMPERA, CASEIN, WATERCOLOR PENCILS, CRAYONS, AND WATER-SOLUBLE INK. NO WATER-BASED OILS. COLLAGE IS ACCEPTABLER USING ONLY PLAIN WHITE PAPERS PAINTED WITH WATER-BASED MEDIA."

*** APPROVED PAPER, SUPPORT AND FRAMING ARE DEFINED IN THE STANDING RULES AS APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

The Standing Rules previously approved by the Board of Directors read as follows:

#12. APPROVED PAPERS, SUPPORTS AND FRAMING FOR JURIED EXHIBITION

  1. No pre-printed papers or embedded three -dimensional objects will be accepted as part of a collage painting.
  2. All paintings shall be executed on approved paper. Approved paper is defined as cotton rag paper, cotton rag paper-mounted board, Yupo, and oriental papers. All other supports that are NOT approved include; clayboard, masonite, canvas, watercolor canvas, or wood.
  3. All finished artwork will remain unvarnished, and framed and matted under a suitable glazing material.

Thank you for voting in a timely manner!

Paint-In for April 26, 2008
Our President, Woody Duncan, will be doing a demo on texture in watercolor this Saturday (4/26) from 9am to Noon at our Paint-In at the Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church: 8600 Academy Rd. NE - that's at the intersection of Moon and Academy ( www.heightscpc.org).

Sharon White arranged for the space for us. She is looking for members to organize a paintout each month - perhaps you could do one month a year!

If you are coming to paint this Saturday it would help to bring photos of old adobe churches, crumbling walls, cliffs, petroglyphs, ect. Woody will bring the medium he uses and will share. Bring a pallet knife if you have one, or just bring paper, paint and brushes so you can paint with us.

"Painting together, you will most likely learn more from others than you will learn from me. See you Saturday!"

Woody
