WFWS 36th Annual Exhibition will be held in Albuquerque in May of 2011. The Judge and Jury will be Dale Laitinen

Eleven watercolor societies make up WFWS. The duty of hosting the annual juried exhibition rotates between each society:
  • Arizona Watercolor
  • Society Colorado Watercolor Society
  • Idaho Watercolor Society
  • Nevada Watercolor Society
  • New Mexico Watercolor Society
  • San Diego Watercolor Society
  • Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild
  • Southwestern Watercolor Society
  • Utah Watercolor Society
  • Watercolor Society of Oregon
  • West Texas Watercolor Society
  • Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFWS) was formed 35 years ago through the foresight and work of Dr David Gale (1915 - 1980) of the New Mexico Watercolor Society. Today, the WFWS includes over 4,500 artists in eleven regional watercolor societies and guilds. New Mexico began this wonderful annual exhibition - we need to help insure it’s continued success.

Be sure to check out the WFWS website, designed and maintained by our own Woody Duncan!

    ENTERING THE SHOW

Members of each society must submit WFWS exhibit entries to that society’s delegate only.

As WFWS delegate for New Mexico, Woody Duncan will be collecting all the entries from NMWS members. Submit your entries to Woody according to the instructions in the WFWS prospectus.

Entry Deadline is November 15th, 2010

We want to encourage “every” NMWS member to enter WFWS for next year's show. Please start painting now to create your best work to enter this November!

    FUNDRAISING EFFORTS

In order to offset some of the expenses of the WFWS 2011 exhibition next May, the WFWS 2011 Organizing Committee is developing several fundraising initiatives:

    • PAINTING RAFFLE
At every meeting we are raffling a donated painting by a signature member of the WFWS 2011 organizing committee. Help NMWS by buying tickets at each meeting and perhaps go home with a masterpiece!

Thanks go to the generous members who bought $5.00 chances at the June and July meetings. Woody Duncan’s painting (June) went to Janine Wilson, Bud Edmonson’s (July) went to Kay Chowning.

The September painting up for auction is Prairie Dock (Rumex hymenosepalus), a botanical painting by Nan Simpson,NMWS.

    • PIZZA, PIZZA, PIZZA!!!
On Thursday, September 23, 2010 California Pizza Kitchen will be donating 20% of what you and your group spends and proceeds will go to help raise funds for WFWS 2011. Take this flyer (or a copy) to California Pizza Kitchen, present it to your server when ordering, and 20% of your check will be donated to our organization!
