Tamara Rymer

Tamara Rymer started drawing western scenes at a young age, around the time she got her first horse. She was influenced by the stories of her relatives which inspired her to paint. Her great-grandfather Powell was a cowboy and cook on the Old Chisolm Trail, and her grandfather lived in an Indian dugout as a child.

Tamara studied at the University of Texas at Austin and preferred to concentrate and devote her time to watercolors, as she likes the challenge of building different color layers on paper. She has been fortunate to receive national awards and has her art hanging in numerous private and public collections, including that of the State of New Mexico.

Tamara feels it is important to use inspiration from actual events and personal experiences, whether it be painting the cowboys in rodeos, or photographing the elk in the Rocky Mountains.
