Sue Ann Mika, NMWS
Ever since her 4th grade teacher assigned her to paint a Halloween scene on the window of the A&P, Sue Ann
Mika has had art on the brain. It wasn't always at the forefront, there was school, sports, marriage, teaching
middle school. Since she retired, she has been painting almost every day, entering shows, getting in some, even
receiving some awards. She worked her way up to Signature member of NMWS and Full member of SLMM and recently
joined International Society of Experimental Artists. Show credits include: Corrales Visual Arts, MasterWorks
Miniature Arts, NMAL, Mesilla Valley, Society of Watercolor Artists, Texas/Neighbors, SLMM National, El Paso
International, NMWS, Fuller Lodge. She has been published: on the website of Watercolor Magic Magazine and in
SLMM's two books - The Art of Layering: Making Connections and Visual Journeys. Also, she served on the NMWS
Board of Directors for 6 years as secretary and president. In addition to painting, she writes poetry about her
images and includes a poem on the back of matted/framed works.
