We in the Southern Chapter are continually learning and growing in our art. Exhibitions are major activities
that move us toward our goal of encouraging members in that journey. The NMWS Southern Chapter regularly offers
three exhibition opportunities each year: : a themed For the Love of Art show in February; our Spring Members’
Show, our biggest show of the year, which is juried and judged for placements and prizes, and our Fall Members’
Show, juried for selection. Other alternative space show opportunities are also available throughout the year.

For the Love of Southwest Gates & Doorways
February 3 - 27, 2012 at Blue Gate Gallery, 311 North Downtown Mall, Las Cruces – Show features the original
work of twelve SC members who create work specifically for the theme. Opening Reception: Friday, February
3 - 5:00-7:00 p.m.
El Camino Real
May 2012 SC Spring Members’ Show at the Branigan Cultural Center, 500 North Water, Las Cruces.
Opening Reception: Friday, May 4, 2012, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Show runs through June 11th. Juror/Judge:
David Drummond.
Stretch
October 2012 SC Fall Members’ Show at the Tombaugh Gallery, 2000 South Solano, Las Cruces; featuring the
work of members who may have worked with new materials in new ways. Opening reception: Sunday, September
30, 11:30-2:00. Show runs through October 26. Juror Krystyna Robbins.

NMWS-SC PAST SHOWS
Spring 2010 Exhibition, held in the Shannon Room at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces,
again demonstrated the continuing growth and variety of style that exists within the Southern Chapter. Jurors/judges for the show were

Spring 2009 Exhibition definitely lived up to our goals for continued improvement. This show was held in April, 2009,
at the Branigan Cultural Center, Shannon Room. Our juror/judge was noted southwest artist and author, Bill Rakocy,
resident of El Paso, TX. Thirty-four works created by twenty-two artists were accepted into the show. Click here to

Spring 2008 Exhibition, in keeping with our goals of improving show quality, was our first juried show.
It was held at the Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces in April 2008. Jurors/judges for this show were
Marcy Boushelle and Sally Bryant, both NMWS signature members. Click here to view the

Spring 2007 Exhibition was our first judged show, held at the Branigan Cultural
Center in Las Cruces in May 2007. Judges for this show were Hazel Orr and Kay Green, signature members in the NMWS.

Southern Chapter Members are also eligible to and do enter work into the NMWS Fall and Spring Shows in Albuquerque, the Western Federation Show and Master Works of New Mexico, among others. Watch for announcements about these shows on the
