At every monthly meeting of the NMWS we have a guest that offers a demonstration of techniques or approaches to difficult tasks.
It is our good fortune to live in a community of so many talented artists who are willing to share their expertise.

May 2008 Program
This month, our program is exceptional in a couple of ways. First and foremost is that the program will be presented by the
judge of our Spring Show, Jane Hofstetter. Hopefully, you have all seen her work by now, either on the announcement card,
flyer or website (www.alliedartistswest.org). Jane Hofstetter is a popular
workshop instructor who currently teaches watercolor workshops throughout the United States and Europe. She has been painting
and teaching for over 30 years. Her demonstration will give us yet another opportunity to learn from a master painter.
Jane studied art at the University of California at Berkeley, and at the Chouinard Art Institute at Los Angeles. She is an
elected and signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, The Transparent Watercolor Society of America
and several other national societies. She has led painting groups in many countries, and her work has appeared in many national
as well as international art books and magazines. Jane has had a book published by North Light Books, "Seven Keys to Great
Paintings", Jan. 2005, and was one of six artists chosen to participate in another North Light Book, "Painting The Elements",
2007. To see examples of her work, go to the following web sites:
www.scvws.org and www.alliedartistswest.org.
The second exceptional aspect to our program is its date and place. As its occurring in concert with the Spring Show,
the date for the program is changed to the first Monday of the month, MAY 5 and the place is changed to the site of the
show, the Hispanic Arts Building at Expo NM. See you then!
