Marcela C. Wagner
I was born in Chile and was raised in Brazil, which allowed me the wonderful opportunity of experiencing two cultures at a time. From a very tender age I would read and re-read my mother's art magazines, and her several-volumes fine arts encyclopedia. My first love was oils, but at the tender age of 28 I decided I needed something different and was introduced to my real and final love: watercolors.

My personal inspiration led me to people, both to paint them and to study them, and I graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology in Brazil and a MS in Organizational Behavior in Brooklyn, NY. My art education has been largely through my own experimentations and instructional books and videos.

In the beginning of my art career I did not know what to paint; I was always trying to find what IT was until one day I painted a portrait. I was hooked for life. There is nothing like the process of revealing the person behind the mask we call face. It is intriguing and it is a challenge to be able to expose that treasure in a painting. Today I paint almost exclusively with transparent watercolor, avoiding even the use of opaque colors or gouache.

I am available for commissioned portraits and I invite you to visit my personal page to see my most recent works. You can contact me by e-mail at marcelawagner@aol.com or by phone at 505-892-8597.
