"New Mexico Creates" Offers Marketing and Sales Program for Metro Area Artists and Artisans - Added 03/27/09

March 25, 2009

To all interested Albuquerque Artists and Artisans,

The Albuquerque Arts Alliance is pleased to introduce an exciting professional opportunity for artists and artisans living and working in the Albuquerque metro area. We will be working in conjunction with the Museum of New Mexico Foundation’s “New Mexico Creates” marketing and sales program to enhance economic access of our local creative community to regional, national and global markets.

The Museum of New Mexico Foundation operates gift shops in the state’s museums in Santa Fe where quality art and crafts are sold directly to museum visitors. The Foundation also operates a highly successful website at www.newmexicocreates.org where they sell New Mexico arts products directly through the internet.

The "New Mexico Creates" program can purchase fine art and crafts directly from artists for sale in the museum shops or on the website. The program also provides a personalized “site” on the website for individual artists, highlighting a variety of the artist’s products as well as personal information designed to accentuate a high-quality and “authentic” experience for the shopper.

The Foundation will be dealing directly with the artist, so all artists who show at local galleries will need to clarify arrangements with their gallery owners before proceeding.

The jury will consist of 3 buyers who will make determinations about products based on their quality, authenticity and salability. They will be looking for mid- to high-end products. Artists can bring photos, portfolios, samples of their work and a business card and bio. Artists, especially jewelers, who are looking to have their products purchased from them during the appointment, should bring a quantity of work for them to choose from.

Prices should be wholesale price and include your cost to pack that item for secure shipment. The foundation will pay shipping and insurance directly to UPS. For larger items that require crating and freight the artist will provide that entire cost along with the wholesale price, and will be reimbursed upon submitting an invoice after shipment.

The review will be at the Arts Alliance Gallery at the Courtyard Shopping Center at the NE corner of Lomas and San Mateo Boulevard on the Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30 from 9:30AM to 4:30PM. To be scheduled to meet with the buyers from the Museum of New Mexico Foundation Shops call the Arts Alliance at 268-1920 or email cricket@abqarts.org to set up your appointment.

Sincerely,

Cricket Appel
Executive Director
